Text comparison and merging
- Combining allows you to compare and work with different revisions of text files, such as program source code, XML, and HTML files. Merge can extract and compare text from Microsoft Office, OpenDocument, PDF and RTF files. XML files can be displayed with special formatting to help you see changes more clearly. Supports ASCII, MBCS and Unicode character encoded files.
- Merge shows detailed highlights of changes within rows. It can be configured to ignore differences in spaces and line breaks, as well as changes in lines that match specified regular expressions. The latter is useful for ignoring unimportant changes such as timestamps or extended version control keywords.
- Color-coded side-by-side comparison makes it easy to spot similarities and differences between files at a glance. Connecting lines are drawn between documents that clearly show that they are related.
- Point-and-click merging helps you select the parts of each file that you want to include in the final merged version by simply clicking the buttons. The in-house editor with unlimited undo gives you full control over the merged file as you create it. The text comparison screen updates dynamically as the merge progresses.
- Merge Professional adds advanced three-way visual file comparison and merging to the Standard Edition's two-way visual file comparison and merging. This is especially useful when multiple people work on the same set of files.
