Info
Caverns of Qud is an imaginative science epic filled with retrofuturism, deep simulation, and fields of sentient plants. Live in an exotic world and transcend layers of millennia-old civilizations. Decide: a dying world or on the verge of rebirth?
Features
- Assemble your character from over 70 mutations and defects and 24 castes and kits - equip yourself with wings, two heads, feathers, four arms, flaming hands or the power to clone yourself - all the character variety you could want.
- Explore procedurally generated regions with familiar locations — each world is approximately 1 million maps in size.
- Dig everything - don't you like it when the wall blocks your way? Dig it up with a pickaxe, or eat it with your corrosive gas mutation, or melt it into lava. Yes, every wall has a melting point.
- Break monsters' limbs - each monster and NPC is as fully simulated as the player. This means they have levels, skills, equipment, faction affiliations, and body parts. So, for example, if you have a mutation that allows you to psionically dominate a spider, you can travel the world as a spider, laying webs and eating things.
- Seek affiliation with over 60 factions – monkeys, crabs, robots, and highly entropic beings – to name just a few.
- Follow the plot of Barathrum the Old, a sentient cave bear who leads a group of tinkerers aiming to restore technological glory to Kud.
- Learn the story — from legendary items with storied histories to in-game history books written by plant historians, there's a story around every corner.
- Die - The Caves of Raby are brutally difficult and deaths are permanent. Don't worry, you can always add a new character.
