Evil Genius is a single-player real-time strategy and simulation video game developed by Elixir Studios and published by Vivendi Universal Games and released on September 28, 2004. The game is inspired by the spy thriller genre (specifically the James Bond film series), set in alternate eras of the 1960s and 70s. Most similar to Dungeon Keeper, the game puts players in charge of a malevolent force seeking global domination while fending off the forces of justice; To this end, gameplay is split between managing a base and completing “acts of deception” in the rest of the world. The game has stylish cartoon-like visuals and features plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor, particularly playing off the clichés of the spy genre.
