Simply put, the EZkeys Cinematic Grand is a crafted piano – a traditional instrument that modifies its sound with objects placed on or between the strings. But in this case, this is oversimplifying. EZkeys Cinematic Grand introduces a brand new hybrid instrument where perfect fidelity meets shifting harmonics and layered textures to create never-before-heard piano timbres. One such instrument, based on a classic Bösendorfer from 1891, has been recorded in four separate configurations – one in which horsehair was used as a bow on each piano string ('Bowed'); where the strings are struck by hand ('Plucked'); in which various preparations are added to create a muffled overtone color ('Damped') and vice versa, where overtones are exaggerated, producing an ambient and rising timbre ('Harmonic').
These four configurations were then saturated with various chains of sound shaping effects and used in different combinations to create different sound combinations. Welcome to a piano that goes beyond convention, ready to serve as a sonic backdrop to almost any mood, narrative or soundstage you can imagine. This is the perfect "grand piano" for otherworldly compositions, as perfect for film scores as it is for any stripe of modern music production or sound design. Prepare to be inspired.
