Info
MKVtools is an application for Mac OS X used to create and edit MKV videos. It is an updated and more specialized version of the original MKVtools, so if you are familiar with its operation, you should be comfortable using this branded version. As the name suggests, MKVtools is a graphical interface for various useful tools for processing video files. MEncoder, Mplayer and MKVToolnix binaries do most of the work. Limitations in MKVtools capacity are 'mostly due to limitations in these applications. When you open a video file in MKVtools, you are presented with a list of the video, audio and subtitle tracks included in the file. Sometimes there will be enough information for you to determine what each part is. If not, you can select a video and an audio track (and optionally a subtitle track) to preview the tracks in an mplayer window. Once you determine which tracks you are interested in, you can convert the tracks from the MKV video or extract the tracks individually for processing in your favorite video app. You can also edit MKV files or merge or merge videos or add tracks to the video.
