The playable character is a Neanderthal armed with a club. To search for food, the Neanderthal must bump into dinosaurs and other animals in its path. Some enemy entities cannot be defeated, so the player must dodge them. A boss awaits you in every even-numbered level. Prehistoric received an 85% rating from Amiga Action in August 1991, with the review stating “After playing Prehistoric for a few minutes, I was not disappointed. The graphics, sound and gameplay are outstanding. My only complaint is that the puzzle element (sic) could have taken it a little further. A must for any platformer or arcade fan.
